While OBS is not required to stream with the ATEM Mini Pro it has features that are built in such as Motion Graphics/Video Playout and Audio Delay which can be useful for productions.

John : dont forget , that OBS use X264 , whitch is top quality encoder .. When U need low bitrate streaming , It will be better , than build in encoder in AMP .. I have not AMP .. Never tested it .. But I seen some posts here on forum about bad quality of gameplay streaming ..

OBS has a lot more flexibility and ability to do things like bring in NDI sources. However the downside is it can crash and it can be demanding on hardware. I have used OBS to stream in the past but would never rely on it for anything important.

As said above, OBS has features that may be useful to you. On a dedicated computer or nuc, it is a solid platform. We have streamed million dollar shows with it.

Robert, is there an OS you think it most reliable on?

2xbass,

PC (Windows 10) has worked without issue. That PC (and we've used NUC's and laptops) only runs OBS. Nothing else.

It’s good that each of us can find the solutions that work for us and that we’re comfortable with. Personally, and I say this as someone who has worked in the software development industry for many decades, and a lot of that was also involved in open source: I would rather run a dedicated hardware device than software on a general purpose computer, even if it’s dedicated to that purpose. That’s not to say that hardware devices, which of course often have software (firmware) can’t have problems, but that’s just my personal preference. I’ve seen too many crashes and bugs in big software apps on computers. The more layers, the more functionality, the more code, the greater the likelihood that something can go wrong. Generally there’s no free lunch and a price to pay for everything. Just my opinion.
