PostTue Jun 23, 2020 9:29 am

Hi,

Desktop Video Setup 11.5.1 appears to be not working on MacOS Big Sur.

No Desktop video device detected.

Using Intensity Shuttle Pro for Thunderbolt.

I got 11.4 to install right away without problems on my Big Sur hackintosh(clean install, I missed Catalina, so from Mojave right to this) and it did recognize my Intensity Pro 4K but i have trouble with getting anything from it in QuickTime, Wirecast or Media Express which is the only one that freezes upon launch, or when opened the second time seems to open but also freezes and doesn't work.

I had trouble the first time, so I installed it again and made sure to allow it to be installed in "Preferences" "Security". Now it works, running on Big Sur Beta 2.

Hi, thanks for your feedback. would you mind elaborating on your process where you say you "allowed it to be installed in the preferences security".

I have installed it and looked in the Security and privacy tab of settigns but see no reference to any blackmagic software?

i have tried uninstalling, rebooting, installing, rebooting, and still no joy.

I installed it a second time after the first time didn't work.

It asked me to allow it in the security settings.
I went into "Settings" "Security" and opened the lock.
It said that a Blackmagic App had been blocked.
I allowed it leaving the check-boxes all filled in (not empty)
It worked.

Hm, I haven't found the "Blackmagic App" anywhere and i also didn't get anything. So it isn't actually still working for me but i don't really know if it was fixed on beta 2 as i'm still on beta 1 due to some early problems with OpenCore and all that stuff on hackintoshes.

EDIT:
Also i did some tinkering and found out that LaunchDaemons (DesktopVideoHelper, XPSService and the BMDStreamingServer) have nothing to do with the freezing Media Express or not working input in Wirecast.
Interestingly Desktop Video Setup sees cards normally with video input. And if i unload the BlackmagicIO.kext then my card logically disappears from Video Setup and Media Express unfreezes.

so i tried the updated 11.6, and still not working.

appreciate that macos11 is a beta os and not supported, but i would have thought that by now some official blackmagic staff input would have happened, to either confirm if there is an issue or not?

Any News about Desktop Video 11.6 and Big Sur?
Installation works, my Ultrastudio Recorder 3G is found but hangs whenever I try to access it (via obs, DaVinci, no matter what...)
I allowed the services in the preferences/security setting after installation.

Same problem here. Latest Desktop Video 11.6 + latest Big Sur beta = anything trying to access my Decklink Mini Monitor 4K freezes that app = so I cannot use even Resolve at all Due to it. And yes, I enabled that app in Security after installation. Sure Big Sur is beta, but I upgraded today because on Catalina my Resolve Studio was crashing even 40 times a day, so I hoped on Big Sur it's gonna be better. We all know how huge disaster Catalina is.

yep. I tested my intensity shuttle on a new Catalina MacBook with usb-c via a usb-c to thunderbolt converter, and it works fine. same device DOES NOT WORK with Big Sur.

So the problem is Big Sur support.

Given that Big Sur is going to be released in maybe 2 weeks, .... get the finger out blackmagic!!!

Not working with Big Sur Beta 9 and Video Desktop 11.6. Yes, Big Sur will be out of Beta soon. My UltraStudio 3G is not working yet. Waiting on BMD to catch up.
