Sigma 8-16mm EF-S Workable with BMCC?

PostThu Sep 20, 2012 8:22 am

I noticed the BMCC has only the RED dot which is an EF connector. OneRivermedia has recommended the lens but i have no access to it at the moment. If someone could verify that it works it would help.

Thanks.

Perhaps not a perfect answer but yes it will fit. All ef-s lenses fit on ef mounts. I believe mr Brawley used an ef-s in one of his films...

Here's one example of the EF-S Sigma in use on the BMC:

It's a 45min 'hands on' review of the camera by Philip Bloom; the Sigma is specifically mentioned.

If you feel a bit deflated after watching the mostly positive review, watch this video (link below), it will recharge your enthusiasm.

Yes, I agree: Especially watch the 1080p video that Philip shot on the beach; many of the shots were done using the Sigma 8-16mm f4.5-5.6 rectilinear zoom lens.

Philip re-uploaded the video after he first posted it, so the 1080p version available for download is relatively high quality, I believe compressed to >15 megabits/sec. h.264 8-bit 4:2:0, down from the camera-original 1080p ProRes 422 HQ 10-bit 4:2:2 @ 220 megabits/sec.

Considering Philip says he shot the video in less than 2 hours, it looks great!

Cheers.

Just got the lens, works fine =) its kinda slow but it's definately nicer than the Canon 8-15mm Fisheye in my opinion. I never knew of Rectilinear lens till now

I have seen some stuff with this lens and it seems really good.
I was wondering if the Nikon Version is also possible.. but what the heck I ordered the Canon version already.

Thanks.
