exporting bmpcc4k LUTs for FCP X

PostSat Jun 27, 2020 5:09 am

can i use the in-camera bmpcc4k film to extended vid LUT in fcp x? i exported the LUT file from my camera to my drive and tried to apply it in custom LUT effect in fcp x and it wasn't recognized.

Basically i want to shoot my current project in ProRes LT in Film mode with the film to extended video LUT burnt straight into the recorded footage. However, i already shot a few scenes that didn't have the LUT burnt in setting on. Trying to use the same LUT that the camera is using but in fcp. or if there is a different way to convert the footage outside of fcp that works too.

first FCPX apply lut only in rec709- rec2020 in out, that mean when you apply lut you could have some problems about convertion.
you can load from resolve the folder of BMD LUTS.
i attach here the
Archivio.zip
(334.36 KiB) Downloaded 246 times
luts that you need.
but is not best way to manage color, think to edit in fcpx, then export xml and do color in resolve.

im pretty sure my free version of resolve doesn't do 4k footage unless i'm wrong. The project has no budget for color timing so i just want to burn in the look....but like i said, i have a few scenes that didn't get burned in.

The free version supports up to UHD, while Studio does 4K DCI too.
This can lead to some confusion.
No, an iGPU is not enough, and you can't use HEVC 10 bit 4:2:2 in the free version.

Studio 18.6.5, MacOS 13.6.5
MacBook M1 Pro, 16 GPU cores, 32 GB RAM and iPhone 15 Pro
Speed Editor, UltraStudio Monitor 3G, iMac 2017, eGPU

i use and teach also fcpx, but you are light year over on a free resolve against fcpx color and quality export.
but ... if you have bmpcc4k you had also a studio licence of Resolve, check on package you have a license file of Resolve Studio.

resolve free can load every resolution prores, only output is limited to UHD.
Anyway check on bmpcc4k box, you have a license of a Resolve studio to be free to work in color in Resolve.
roundtrip of FCPX-Resolve-FCPX it's easy and allow you to work and study only color part of resolve, where it shine :-D
