What distance from eyes you use for a 32" monitor?

I bought a 32" monitor and i can't to accommodate the transition from 27" monitor. I have 75 cm from the screen to my eyes. What distance you use for a 32" monitor? After a week to use my impression is that is too big for me. How much time you was spent to accommodate yours eyes with 32"? My questions is just for 32" monitor owners.

It all depends on your vision.

I assume it's a 4k monitor, if you're using it to edit and grade, then the EBU recommendation, to be able to see any benefit in 4K, is 1-1.5 times picture height, which in your case is about 60cm, whereas for HD that would be @3-3.5 times, 120cm -140cm. These are thought to be the maximum distances where any benefit of pixel size can be discerned. That doesn't mean they are necessarily the most comfortable viewing distances though. However as you can see 75cm is slightly beyond the point where 4K becomes relevant at that screen size, for critical viewing and is actually quite a distance to be from a monitor on an editing desk. If it's a client monitor for viewing only then that should be fairly comfortable. I have a 37" HD client monitor, that because of the shape of the edit suite, is about 100-110 in distance and that seems good.

I stay 2 week at 1m distance from my 32" UHD monitor and continued to see him very big like a normaly TV. 96.7 cm is ideal distance that formula say. For me above 1,5 m start to see my monitor size normally but is a not practical distance. I don't understand why the Asus, Dell, Benq make so big and not practical monitor size. I know that UHD resolution stretch well on 32" but what desk size must to have for this monitors?

me too that i'm going to choose the new monitor i'm searching about a 29" be cause i also had a tv 32 and i saw that 32 is too big lke a monitor.

If you are using the larger monitor to edit as I do, I know I’m closer, but the particular panel I’m focused on in Resolve doesn’t usually fill the entire screen of course. When I view full screen to look at the video, I just move back to have a comfortable view. It did seem too large for a few weeks, but now feels just right.

I need a fast advice! Tomorrow is the last day when i can return my 32" monitor. Say good bye to a 32" screen and come back to 27" screen or keep it the 32" monitor, "this is the question"?

I recently moved from a 24" monitor to 27" and found it a little off. Using the site that Misha posted, I pushed my monitor back 1.5" and it's better. I was just too close. I have a 32" in the other room for watching movies and I brought that in as a second monitor to the right. That was perfect. If you feel the monitor is uncomfortable for you, then return it. As Rick pointed out, the way you use the amount of space on the desktop (for instance the relationship of timeline to viewer) can be great once you get used to it. The caveat is going to be whether the general usage for the other things you do can be made comfortable. If not, there's no shame with going back to a 27" monitor. With a larger monitor I think you need to start managing multiple windows to get the most of out of it, as opposed to single window view like we do on laptops or tablets or smaller monitors.

Good advice! I like having that extra real estate now; I’ve adjusted to it, I would not like to go back. I’m using a 23” 1920x1200 2003 monitor for my second screen and will be trying to bump that to a repurposed 27” iMac late 2009 2560x1440 this year.

I also have a 32" monitor. It definitely wasnt comfortable at first so I used to adjust the window size of photoshop so it wont fill the entire screen but after a month of usage I eventually got used to the size. Having the perfect monitor makes editing less taxing. If anyone is looking to upgrade their monitor, you should find more information here.
