MAC Problems with Desktop Video 11.6 - DeckLink Studio 4k

PostWed Jul 29, 2020 5:24 pm

Hello

bugs are getting worse
see my sig for the set up

just got finished re testing back to the 11.3 drivers
under catalina 10.15.6

(please where to I find the 10 series drivers on the BM web site?)

the audio output from the digital outs is not working (AES and SDI)

I have tested this with both an external PCIe and in a hackintosh running high sierra

Digital Audio out is fine under Resolve
but under the system or of most any other app there is clicking, repetition, crackle and distortion
the earlier drivers were hit or miss
somethings worked some did not

under the 11.6 drivers everything is broken
(props to 11.6 for being consistent ! uhhh.... ;-)

I have tried both direct connections AES from the Decklink
and taking the SDI to an SDI to AES blackmagic converter
the result is the same

I dont see errors in the console
but I'm not really sure where to look
so maybe I'm missing the error messages

so it seems I'm one of the few that uses the Decklink for Digital audio out
but it SHOULD work

please help

A follow-up note

I just rewired my set up
To test with UltraStudio Mini Monitor ==> BM SDI 4k to AES breakout box

And It produced the same problem
Resolve works perfectly fine
But other applications and the system audio are crackly and distorted

:-((

hummm...

I'm still digging around here

so it seems that the problem has something to do with the way the Desktop Video driver is presenting to the system for "system audio" for general audio

when using Resolve the problem disappears
(you hear the click of the system resetting when you launch resolve)

AND WHEN RESOLVE IS RUNNING THE SYSTEM AUDIO IS FINE!!!!!!

so I would guess that there are a couple of different audio "drivers" in the "DesktopVideo" package

this seems to be related to the T2 Chip audio problems
that have been seen with external USB2 audio devices
(https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_cont ... e=emb_logo)

so my current work around is to RUN RESOLVE IN THE BACKGROUND AT ALL TIMES

yikes

hope this gets fixed someday
