ATEM Streaming Bridge for Remote Viewing

PostFri Jul 31, 2020 7:16 am

Just finished watching the announcement on youtube.
I understand that it is a receiver/decoder but can BMD make it as a transmitter/encoder also? As a separate converter or a duplex model in one converter. This is really useful for remote editing/grading/vfx preview that only need 1 input send to 1 output point-to-point. The requirement to use ATEM Mini Pro just to send 1 SDI signal is too much for 1-to-1 remote viewing.

Got another question about this, you could use this for viewing a quad combo monitor of all four inputs at once on a single SDI monitor?

It would be good to have a Blackmagic encoder to complement their decoder. I've no need for an ATEM Mini of any variant, as we don't use HDMI. If they made an SDI variant - different matter. As it is, we have to put an Ultrastudio Mini 4K on the output of our BM vision mixer, then Thunderbolt into an iMac running OBS. An expensive and convoluted streaming solution.

Yes, with separate SDI encoder this would be a great solution for low cost point-to-point streaming.
