Thanks Uli!

I think I need to get use to the fact that Davinci Resolve is for someone that probably uses Davinci Resolve for work and has high-end hardware that they can upgrade on a yearly basis to support Resolve.
I've been a Vegas user for a long time. I use Hitfilm for Fusion-type stuff, which I don't do a lot. So, maybe I need to stay with those kind of tools for now. I don't upgrade hardware that often. I use Intel i7 4770k cpu, 32Gb ram, SSD hard drive, and Nvidia 770 graphics card for my desktop. For my laptop, it's an Intel i5 with 8Gb.
Even on my desktop configuration, Davinci Resolve was not fast on startup. Editing was okay.
I've been a Vegas user for a long time. It starts up fast, even on my laptop (about 8 seconds). Hitfilm is slower on startup and rendering, but Davinci takes about 50 seconds to load up on my laptop. And Davinci takes about 1 1/2 minutes to open a video and begin playback.
