Could not find any OpenCL capable GPUs?

PostTue Dec 25, 2018 8:56 pm

Hi, please could somebody help? I have installed the free version of Resolve 15 but I have received a message saying, could not find any OpenCL capable GPUs? I am using windows 10, AMD Ryzen 5 2400G with Radeon Vega Graphics. I have no idea what I need to do to resolve this but the computer that I am using was recommended to me for video editing. I would be very grateful for any comments? Thank you

Right click on the Windows desktop and select AMD Radeon Settings.

In the window that opens, select System. In the Overview tab, what do you see in the:

Radeon Software Version
Radeon Software Edition
Graphics Chipset
Memory Size
System Memory

areas?

I'm having the same problem on an Intel based system, using windows 10.

My settings are:
Radeon Software Version 18.12.3
Radeon Software Edition Adrenalin 2019
Graphics Chipset Radeon RX Vega
High Bandwidth Cache Size 8176 MB
System Memory 16 GB

OpenCL™ Version 25.20.15003.5010
OpenCL™ API Version 2.0

I couldn't find what you meant by memory size, as that is not there.

I fixed this issue on my Mac Book Pro + Vega 20 (bootcamp) using the DDU uninstaller utility and installing again the latest AMD video drivers.
Check if OpenCL are really available in your system with this utility:

iMac Retina 5K 27 Late 2014 - i7 4GHz - 32GB - R9 M295X 4GB
Mac Book Pro 15 Late 2018 - i9 2.9GHZ - 32GB - Vega 20 4GB
Mac Pro 7.1 - Xeon 12c - 96GB - Radeon Pro 580X - n°2 RTX2080Ti (bootcamp) - n°1 egpu GTX1080Ti

Could not find any OpenCL capable GPUs. AGAIN!!!

PostMon Feb 11, 2019 11:41 am

Resolve 15.2.2 + AMD RADEON 18.9.3 or 18.9.2 driver for ASUS HD7750-DCSL-1GD5 video card was installed - everything worked. I updated the video driver to the latest version of win10-64bit-radeon-software-adrenalin-2019-edition-19.2.1-feb4.exe - Resolve stopped seeing OpenCL. I updated it himself to 15.2.3 - it did not help. I did a clean install of the AMD RADEON 19.2.1 video driver - it didn't help also.

The same thing happened earlier when installing the newest, “optional” version of the video driver RADEON. Earlier, I was able to solve the problem by installing the previous, “recommended” version of the video driver. However, at that time, the Libre Office program did not find OpenCL either, but now it sees it.

Upd: The problem was solved by rolling back to the previous version of the video driver Win10-64Bit-Radeon-Software-Adrenalin-Edition-18.9.3-Oct5.

Updated Resolve to 15.2.4, updated driver to recommended radeon-software-adrenalin-2019-19.1.1-win10-64bit-jan20.exe - Resolve stopped seeing OpenCL. Updated driver to optional win10-64bit-radeon-software-adrenalin-2019-edition-19.2.2-feb12.exe - Resolve does not see OpenCL. Returned driver 18.9.3 - OpenCL visibility for Resolve was restored. But in the annotation for release 15.2.4 it says: "The latest version of the Intel OpenCL drivers is now supported on Windows."

Зато в аннотации к релизу 15.2.4 сказано: "the latest version of Intel OpenCL drivers is now supported on Windows".

I'm glad you found an AMD driver that works.

The comment about Intel OpenCL drivers is related to Intel graphics, not AMD.

Hello,

I could run DaVinci 15 on my PC from november 2018 to june 2019.
I'm now receiving the message "Could not find any OpenCL capable GPUs" while starting it.

My pc has quite low config : AsusZenbook, Win10, INtel I5 7200 @2,5ghz , GPU HD Graphics 620, 256 SSD ; so i'm quite confused why Davinci worked in the first place regarding minimum config to run it in this forum. :?

Problem is, i've a project on the go, so is there any chance i can come back to initial settings / drivers ?
2nd solution would be to transfer my project in a new (more powerfull) PC, but what would be the process without opening Davinci (source file?) ?

A huge thanks for your help !!

If you are using the same version of Resolve as was previously working, then it would seem some other software or driver on your system has been updated and is causing an issue for Resolve.

If you've updated Resolve, go back to the version that was working.

Otherwise, maybe a Windows update. Maybe an Intel HD graphics driver update.

If you wish to transfer your project to another system, and Resolve won't launch, you could probably manually copy the project folder, assuming you were using the default Disk database, into the Disk database folder of another Resolve system.

The default location for Disk database projects on a Windows system running Resolve prior to version 16, is here:

C:\ProgramData\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\Resolve Disk Database\Resolve Projects\Users\guest\Projects

You will see a folder for each of your projects in this folder. You can copy the desired project folder from here, and paste it into the same path of another Resolve system running the same Resolve version.

Without any info about your MBP, it's hard to say.

But I'll guess you have a very old MBP with NVIDIA 9400 and/or 9600 graphics. And if that's what you have, it's not going to run Resolve 15 or 16.

My PC:

In a File Explorer window, go to:

C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve

and run CaptureLogs

This will place a Resolve log file named similar to this on your Windows desktop: DaVinci-Resolve-logs-20181228_140434.zip (You may not see the .zip extension if your system is set to hide known extensions).

Then open Windows System Information and do a File - Save (Not a File Export), which will generate a .NFO file.

Place both those files on a file sharing site and provide links to the files here.

Ah, a fabulous AMD graphics based NUC. Perfect for Resolve.

Try updating the AMD driver:

Ok brilliant!

The update was successful and Resolve opens. BUT now if I click on anything, the screen freezes, turns blue, then black, then white, and that's it.

Any idea whats happening?

Its going to be an AMD and/or Intel graphics driver issue. All I can suggest is to try different versions of those. Most likely try changing the AMD driver.

My laptop:

Piotr, for earlier versions of Resolve scroll down this column. As your GPU driver dates from 2016, your GPU is likely to be inadequate to run Resolve.

If this is not what you already have installed, try this March 2020 HP Intel graphics driver for your notebook:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/se ... b-255929-1

This doesn't list the actual Intel driver version that gets installed (annoying) so I can't tell if this is the same as the 27.20.100.8190 driver you currently have installed.

But at any rate, this seems to be a graphics driver issue, so hopefully you can find one that works.

It's also possible that the MirrorOp Virtual Graphics Adaptor is interfering somehow, so as a test, you might consider disabling that, to see what effect it has.

I just installed the free version of Resolve 16.2.6 on Fedora 32. I have a very fast laptop with 32GB RAM, Nvidia RTX 2060 video card and a 4 GHz CPU. I know my machine has more than enough specs to run this app. When I try to launch Resolve I get the message about not finding OpenCL. If I go into the hardware config and switch it to Cuda then Resolve launches and I can start a new project. But when I add media to the project each file is an empty square. If I preview a clip (press play) it tracks the time correctly but the playback in blank. I don't get it. I could really use some help please.

We only support Resolve on CentOS 7.x systems.

You may find answers to your issue in the big Linux Resolve thread, primarily dealing with the use of unsupported distros:

viewtopic.php?f=21&t=56878

Resolve on Linux with NVIDIA hardware, requires a real NVIDIA driver be installed. By default, Linux distros use the open source Nouveau NVIDIA drivers. These do not work for Resolve and must be replaced with the NVIDIA driver.

If you are a new Forum user, you may not be allowed to post URLs. If this happens, just put a space near the front of the URL, so the system doesn't think it's a URL.

Your NFO file is corrupt, and won't open in System Information. Making it less then helpful.

However, I can see you have an MSI system, and that prompts one to look for a Nahimic related driver, and I see those as well. Nahimic related stuff is known to interfere with Resolve, so I would suggest you stop any Nahimic related processes.

Normally, this is found in the Task Manager Startup tab. If you see Nahimic stuff in Startup, set it to Disabled and restart the system, and see if that solves the issue.

If not, send another NFO file. This time, after it's generated, double click it, to verify it will open in Windows System Information.

I am now experiencing this error as well. I deleted Resolve and downloaded latest version of Resolve 16. I have deleted my AMD Radeon Graphics Driver and did a clean re-install of the latest version of the driver. I have the latest updates for Windows 10 (64) installed. Resolve will not even open. Gives me the message of not being able to find OpenCL capable GPU. I obviously can't send a log if Resolve won't open. Any ideas?

How do I access the reserve log on mac to send over files? Thanks loads

Resolve is not seeing your RX580 GPU at all. Which is pretty weird. It should be able to detect the GPU, even if a flaky AMD driver is in use.

In case the issue is with 16.2.7, go into Windows Control Panel - Programs and Features, and uninstall Resolve 16.2.7.

Then download and install Resolve 16.2.5. If that still doesn't work, please send an updated log and NFO file.

It's not a Resolve issue, apparently.

I would suggest removing the AMD driver with DDU, and reinstalling one from the AMD site. Use the AMD auto detect process to let it pick the driver to install.

The DDU process is at the link below. That thread was specifically for the Intel driver. Just select AMD instead of Intel.
