Genlock and TC in, Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera 4K?

PostTue Sep 15, 2020 9:51 am

I am looking to buy a few Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera 4K bodies, for witness cameras in a live environment.

I see that there is a SDI input, which can take a ref signal for Genlock.
Can I send timecode in as well, via the mic input, with an LTC signal?

Will this show and record as timecode?

Thank you.

Genlock is an analog/composite signal. The input is accessed through the expansion port via the supplied breakout cable (squid). Dmitry Shijan makes an expansion box that can be fit with a genlock tap.

The Micro 4k is just a head, it doesn’t record so there’s no provision for timecode.

Good Luck

Thanks!

On a related note, can any of the lower end BM cameras take TC and Genlock?
