EIZO's New ColorEdge CS2740

PostTue Sep 22, 2020 5:10 pm

I'm considering this monitor and I'd appreciate comments, pro and con, from anyone who is using it.

For calibration, I plan to use an X-Rite i1 Display Pro, which as I understand it should work fine with Eizo Color Navigator.

Thanks

There's some good info here:

https://liftgammagain.com/forum/index.php?threads/eizo-cs2740.14630/

The general notion over there is that the CG's are the monitors to get. Another thread detailing more info:

I nearly bought an Eizo, but my situation changed with the pandemic and I went in a different direction.

Thanks Chris,

The first link was helpful. There are also a few decent written reviews. I’ve yet to see a useful video review in either of the languages that I understand.

A CG series monitor is out of the question unless I drop resolution to 2560x1440, and even then it’s a lot more money (US$700 more). As you know doubt know, the CG monitors are substantially more expensive.

You should just get the CS. At some point it's easy to get caught up in better/best etc. routines. I had to make some financial choices this year when covid hit and my aging NEC needed replacement. I voted to make my moves in the photography space and bought a new budget monitor without worrying that I wasn't buying the latest or greatest or it's "professional" performance for video. I had to put off buying the P6K as well. For what's happening with me artistically, I'm fine. In some ways once I bought something I could forget the rest. I just started creating.

That's pretty much where I'm at. Agree fully with the thrust of the rest of your post.

Definitely post some findings if you get the EIZO CS. I have read that it is a great monitor and I’ve also been looking at the BENQ SW321C although to use with an Epson large format printer, not with Resolve.

I’ve found this review helpful: http://www.farsawreylandscape.co.uk/blo ... sed-review

Yes, I found that write-up very helpful too.

I'll have to take a look at the SW321C myself.

Thanks
