Simultaneous streaming over USB C and Ethernet - Mini Pro

PostSun Sep 27, 2020 10:04 pm

Looking to pull the trigger on an ATEM Mini Pro in the next few weeks.

For reasons, I will be streaming to Vimeo for a work project, and I must use a primary and secondary encoder.

Can I use stream via Ethernet and USB C at the same time? I would like to feed the USB C to a Mac running Wirecast, but use the Ethernet direct to Vimeo (or another destination per the project).

Will the Mini Pro support this?

Alternatively, is there a way to split the USB C to separate encoders?

I got an answer direct from BMD: short answer, yes. USB C always available, ethernet when configured also outputs program. Cheers!

Yes, you can use the Ethernet streaming and USB-C webcam output at the same time.

Just be aware that if you stream to two endpoints simultaneously, it will double your upload bandwidth requirements. Also, when using two different encoding approaches like this, there is no guarantee that the output latency of the primary and second encoder will be the same, so I suppose that if the streaming platform did need to switch from the primary to the backup stream, there is a possibility of a minor time discontinuity. Of course this is still better than having the entire stream go down though.
