ATEM Mini supply voltage

PostWed Oct 14, 2020 7:31 pm

I'm thinking of building a portable rig for an ATEM Mini Pro ISO and would like to run it off a V-lock battery. These can output as much as 16.8V when fully charged. Would supplying this directly to the Mini damage the Mini, or is the Mini able to regulate it down to what it needs? The power supply the Mini comes with is 12V, but the Mini may be regulating that down internally. Thanks.

There's a sticker on the bottom of the ATEM Mini (Pro) (Iso) that should answer your question.

I haven’t bought one yet. Can you tell me what the sticker says?

It says 9-20V cosuming 36W, so it need supply of about 1.8 to 4A... lot a juice, me think~

Thanks. It’s odd that the current spec is only 30W (https://tinyurl.com/y36e3xc2 ; scroll down to Power Requirements) and, apparently, Minis now ship with 30W supplies (and no locking barrel jack).

The ATEM Mini Pro is specified as 30W maximum power draw while the ATEM Mini Pro ISO is specified as 36W:
https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/produc ... s/W-APS-15

Most V-Mount batteries are capable of delivering that kind of current, but you should check the specs of whatever battery you intend to use just to be sure. In particular, some batteries have D-Tap ports that are rated for a lower maximum power draw than the main V-Mount battery pins. So this can sometimes be an issue if you try to power multiple, high-power consumption devices from the D-Tap outputs.
