Creating multicam with 3 cams splitting their files

PostSat Oct 17, 2020 9:40 pm

I have a three camera shoot of about 19 minutes

I am using two Oly EM5s and a GoPro.

The Olys have given me two files each and the GoPro three files.

My first attempt at getting multicam to sync failed.

What would the experts/gurus around here do next please?

Assuming that you started all cameras within a couple of minutes of each other and that all cameras "heard" the same sound, then sync the first files of the three cameras by audio creating a multicam clip. Then edit the multicam clip dragging in the other follow-on files to the appropriate track.

Thanks Michael,

Nice and easy.

I'll see if it works for 'me'.

If you have difficulty getting the camera files to sync, then you may benefit in future productions from an audio slate. After starting all your camera's recordings, clap your hands a couple of times at a point in view of all cameras. Or use an actual slate if you have one.

Thanks Michael,

I normally do a clap but seem to have forgotten this time.

A few weeks ago I had to join about twelve GoPro files and someone pointed me to JoyoShare Video Joiner. I had a free go left in my trial and tried it on these clips. It worked and I have a fully synced Multicam clip.

I'll buy a copy as I am sure I'll need it again.

But thanks for your suggestions.

I tried your idea again.

Taking the first three clips did not work.

It seems the second three do create a Multicam.

Now I need to add the earlier and later clips.

Fascinating stuff.

Interesting. My guess is that the audio activity during the first set of clips was insufficient to determine a sync point. A slate would probably have cured that.
