Fusion Studio 17 works with Resolve Studio License

PostTue Nov 10, 2020 4:23 am

It seems like another bonus of v17 implementation is that Fusion Studio stand-alone now works with a Resolve Studio license!

Major thumbs up to BMD for that!

When many other companies are trying to gouge customers through subscription models and "pay-for-upgrade" models, BMD has gone in the complete opposite direction to not only give free updates, but give the customer back more than what they paid for!

Does Fusion Studio get its own 2 installation allotment on this same activation code, in addition to Resolve Studio's 2 installation allotment, or do they both share the 2 activation slots?

Not trying it because I don't want to have to go through reactivating software in the case that there are only 2 slots for both software packages. The activation keys have to be typed in, and I hate that enough for this to not be worth it; considering Fusion Studio is 95% redundant if you have Resolve Studio.

Fusion Studio is of no worth to me if I have to give up a Resolve activation (Desktop + Laptop) to run it on the same activation code.

It's the same 2x activations.

If you're using it on the same computer as the activated instance of Resolve Studio, it's using the same license.

And if you have Resolve activated on a Desktop and Laptop, what then?

Do you lose one Resolve activation?

Your answer confuses more than it clarifies.

It's a total of two activations - so two Fusions or two Resolves or one of each.

Ah. I'll stay away from it while I still need access to Resolve, then. Is there a Fusion Connect plug-in for Premiere Pro?

I have the same setup. I've installed Resolve Studio and Fusion Studio on both. It's a single activation on each computer.

Why are you responding, if you can't respond in an unambiguous manner? I pointed this out to you, and yet you have done it again.

I will just take the developer's word.

Let me try in simpler English.

1x Desktop Computer has BOTH Resolve Studio AND Fusion Studio installed. License was activated using Resolve. Fusion Studio also works on this Desktop without having to deactivate/reactivate.

1x Laptop Computer has BOTH Resolve Studio AND Fusion Studio installed. License was activated using Resolve. Fusion Studio also works on this Laptop without having to deactivate/reactivate.

Clear and simple don't have the same meanings.

Your English was simple enough, but the wording was ambiguous in both of those cases.

What you write contradicts what the dev wrote up-thread.

Check to see if your Resolve Studio installations challenge for activation.

Okay, so I tested this now that it isn't 3AM.

RishkaDriver is right, Activation Coes are functionally like product bundles (Resolve + Fusion Studio) in iLok License Manager with 2 Machine Authorizations.

If you have Resolve Studio Activated on two machines, then Fusion Studio will piggyback off of those Activations. It will find the license and use it.

If you try to install either on a third machine, it will deactivate the first activated instance of either and activate the third machine:

Desktop and Laptop with Resolve + Fusion Studio = Fine
Desktop with Resolve Studio and Laptop with Fusion Studio = Fine
Desktop with Resolve + Fusion Studio, Laptop with Resolve Studio, and iMac with Fusion Studio = Not Fine, as that is 3 Machines

One activation works for both, but both either or both can only be activated on two machines total.

If you run a two-machine setup (Desktop + Laptop), then you can install and activate both on both machines.

I'd like to correct my original post.

It is indeed two activations at a time, but an activation is per machine, and is shared between Fusion Studio and Resolve Studio on that machine.

So you can activate and run up to two instances of each app (one on each machine) simultaneously. A third activation will remove credentials from both. This is in line with Asim and Nate's observations.

Apologies for the confusion.

No, but there is a hack, check YT. The old name was Fusion Connect.
No, an iGPU is not enough, and you can't use HEVC 10 bit 4:2:2 in the free version.

I have both Resolve Studio and Fusion Studio installed on my Macbook only but I can't run both app simultaneously. I need to key in the activation (Fusion Studio) when the other one (Resolve Studio) in on. Any ideas?

Hi Guys,
I have 1 laptop + 1 desktop pc.
Could please confirm me , that all this is still true ?

If i buy one license of Davinci Resolve Studio.
I will be able to use 1 instance of Resolve Studio and 1 instance of Fusion Studio at the same time on either my laptop OR desktop ?

I will also be able to access unlimited render nodes for Fusion ?

Thanks for clarification.
Cheers

The answer is Yes
- Resolve Studio give access to Fusion Studio standalone
- Both can work at the same time on the same computer
- it also gives unlimited render node for fusion
Great deal.

It works for me, but George Choi seems to have a problem. I have one M1 laptop and one iMac running.
I can't comment on render nodes from personal experience.

If you can run them at in parallel depends on the hardware resources, heaps of RAM in particular.
I wouldn't recommend it.
