Will Blackmagic eGPUs be supported with the new Apple M1 Macs? Somewhere said that Apple made a statement that eGPUs will no longer be compatible, but then on the Apple website and on Blackmagics, it looks like it says they will be...

This is the Mac mini M1/Intel specs page. Scroll down to "Accessories" on the M1 specs The Blackmagic eGPU is not on the list, and nor is support for eGPUs generally: https://www.apple.com/mac-mini/specs/

If you click at the top of the page for the Intel Mac mini specs, the Blackmagic eGPU is on the Accessories list.

Apple's Blackmagic eGPU page links to the current minis on the "Compatibility" list, but I think that it means the Intel mini: https://www.apple.com/shop/product/HM8Y ... magic-egpu?

These computers challenge the convention of seeing CPU, RAM and GPU as separate boxes. The article on the M1 Mac mini that AnandTech published today makes it clear that unification of those functions is fundamental to its conclusion that "Apple hit it out of the park with the M1". We'll see what Apple does for the next generation.
