HDMI Signal Changed P4k Firmware 6.8 to 6.9.6

PostFri Nov 20, 2020 2:00 pm

Hello!

I just upgraded my P4k from firmware 6.8.something to 6.9.6. Now one of my monitors (a brand new TVLogic F-5A) says "unsupported HDMI."

Other monitors work fine, tried other cables & various power on sequences, no luck.

What changed in the output signal of 6.9.6 that could cause this, and how can I downgrade the firmware to get the old signal format back?

Updated information!

The monitor states that it supports the following HDMI inputs:
1080p (60/59.94/50/30/25/24/.23.98)/1080i(60/59.94/50)/720p(60/50)

If I change the project time base to anything other than 23.98 then the monitor works fine. On 23.98 the monitor says "unsupported HDMI signal."

Suggests that there's something that changed with the output on HDMI at that time base. Any thoughts, Blackmagic?

usually upgrading firmware reset setup of camera, are you sure that hdmi out are not changed? try to revert back to old firmware and see if you are back with monitor signal.

Just for completeness in case someone else is looking for this information.

I contacted TVLogic and they told me that they were aware of the issue: something in the signal metadata from the P4k wasn't exactly what the F-5A was expecting to see. They have since created a special firmware fix which will allow for the discrepancy.

If anyone else has this issue, contact TVLogic via their support center phone numbers and they will send you a link to the firmware update!

Ok, that's really interesting as we haven't changed anything. If you could PM me and put me in touch with TVLogic, happy to have a chat with them to see what is going on. The HDMI output follows the project framerate.

Additionally, FW 6.9.5 is the latest update for the Pocket camera. FW6.9.6 is for the Studio camera and accessories.
