AAC Audio Playback on Linux

PostWed Nov 25, 2020 8:22 am

Hi,
it would be great if there was AAC audio playback in the Linux version of Da Vinci Resolve Studio. I paid money to use Studio version, so there shouldn't be an issue with licensing AAC audio for that product.

Fully agreed, AAC input support on Linux would be incredibly useful. It's just such a widely used codec and it would simplify my workflows a lot by not having to convert audio externally before using a lot of clips that I have.

Adding a vote for this also. I just got my workstation switched to Linux, so far everything in Resolve seems to be working... except this. And I Have enough camera and phone files that it breaks the usability. From what I can tell this is one of (or the) last barrier to Linux.

+1. It's annoying having to reboot to Windows just for AAC.

+1 from me too.

I have to use an FFMPEG script to convert mobile footage - leave the video as is but decode the audio to uncompressed and repackage as .mov. Fast and works perfectly but it really shouldn't be a necessary extra step.

Anyone know why AAC support is missing? Presumably not licensing as it's missing from the Studio version.

Asus Z87, Intel Core i7-4770 3.4GHz, 24 GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 (450.66, supports CUDA 11.0). Old system but runs Resolve remarkably well!

+1 for this too, as I only just uncovered it, today. It's not a big thing, as I only made a test video, which could be quickly remade using pcm_s16le. However, it would be good to have AAC support out of the box - especially on the paid version.

Please add Linux AAC audio support. It's unbelievable this does not work. This is a real pain point and showstopper
