This is the reason why I don't use optimised media and instead encode proxies outside of Resolve (well that and the lack of background processing) because the Cache is basically a black hole. You can delete the cache, you can delete optimised media, but you've no idea from one project to the next just how much space is taken up with that project let alone its individual timelines.
I'm sure something as fundamental as this would require a fair degree of recoding, but it would be a very welcome change.
A "manage storage" Tab in the project manager would be perfect imo.
Within each folder is an Info.txt file that contains some of the information you are looking for.
PC: Resolve 18.0.1, WINDOWS 10, GTX 3090 Desktop Video 12.0 (All bug reports etc. are PC unless specified.) Mac: Mac Studio M1 Ultra, Resolve 18.0.1, 12.4
I can see some potentially issues this could cause for a possible future feature of Resolve but since cache compatibility isn't really important, I'm gonna +1 lol
Agreed. Just going into the file manager and nuking the CacheClip folder every few months isn't the most elegant solution but I'm not sure of a better approach right now..
As a fellow software developer myself, I don't see how this would be hard to implement, unless the code base is not well written. Unless there are some problems, which I'm not seeing atm.
Storage management from the home window would be ideal.
Could be added to project list view, so you would have columns for Media, Proxy Media, Optimised Media, Cache and Gallery Stills with trash, copy and move options for each.

+1. Also, the ability to delete project cache from Project Manager without needing to open it first would be awesome, especially together with a toggleable column for how much cache that project has.
