Resolve 9 ARRIRAW + Gemini broken conform bug

PostSat Sep 29, 2012 3:46 pm

Hi folks,

Working on a shoot with the ARRI Alexa and the Gemini 4:4:4 recorder. Having an issue in Resolve 9 wherein .ari files that are imported are showing incorrect timecode (the framecount doesn't reset from :23 to :00, it just keeps going).

I called the folks at Gemini and they were able to replicate the issue with Resolve 9 in their labs. The .ari timecode appears fine in both the ARRIRAW Converter and in Adobe Premiere Pro CS6. I've attached a screenshot for reference.

A note: once the .ari files have been transcoded into any format (tested with DPX and ProRes), the timecode appears as it should. It's only in Resolve 9 itself that the issue arises. Seems like a pretty serious bug because it breaks the conform workflow with ARRIRAW footage.

The frame-rate is not set correctly in the ARI file header. It's showing 16000 fps.
