resolve fusion 17b9, b8, HDR issues (same as v16)

PostTue Feb 23, 2021 2:24 am

I am missing an option to convert the viewing luts inside the fusion viewer and thumbnails to Rec709/srgb correctly, and also the video IO output is unusable while working in HDR projects in combination with fusion...
the thumbnails looking like linear with clipped at 100nits same as the video output

the internal viewer is also clipped with a raised gamma...

it is not possible to work in HDR color-managed workflows with resolve fusion

I've had similar issues with using ACES. Resolve doesn't seem to apply the correct LUTs in many cases. I usually work in standalone and I had just tested the Resolve Fusion workflow so I simply switched my project over to Fusion Studio. Not sure if that is an option for you. You should have access to Fusion with your resolve license, too.

I personally have tried using Resolve Fusion several times but it's just very unclear when and how it converts footage while ingesting it into Fusion. Especially if a project requires different sources in varying colorspaces. All that is very clear and manageable in Fusion Studio.

Resolve Fusion color management is in my opinion broken for anything but the simplest cases, not sure if by design or they just don't care to fix it because it has been for years now. Any question related to ACES goes to black hole for BMD, maybe their own brainchild DWG will get more attention because it sufferers from exactly the same problems.
I do stuff.
