NEW MEIKE 50MM T2.1 S35 | VIDEO (BMPCC 6K)

PostTue Feb 23, 2021 7:35 am

Hey guys,

Here is a selection of shots taken with the Meike 50mm T2.1 S35 Cine lens on the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K.

For this one I wanted to focus on what I normally would shoot with a longer lens which is mostly details and close ups.
I decided to split the video between indoor (doco style) and outdoor (b roll).
I filmed my wife Ams drawing to get a subject to test out the lens is a documentary setting.

The image is beautiful and I found the lens to have quite a lot of character.
Most of the footage in this video is shot between T2.1 and T5.6.
Shot handheld in Prores 422 UHD with a mix of 25fps and 50fps.

Stay tuned for the review.

Let me know if you have any questions in the comments :).

Cheers,
Flo

Nice! What do you mean by "character"? From what I can see It looks like another clean, modern, mostly "transparent" lens similar to the 35mm.

Thanks !! I found this lens to be less clinical that I expected and definitely less than the 35mm when it comes to flares and contrast. Maybe it's just me or the copy I have :).

Gotcha. So it veils more easily than the 35mm? In a controlled situation, is the contrast that different?
In Meike's MFT set, the 35mm veils WAY more easily than all the others. So much so that I avoid it.

I feel that the 50mm S35 has less contrast and is slightly softer than the 35. I only used the 25mm of the MFT.

If they match anywhere near as well as the MFTs, they'll be a great set.
