BMPCC Original - Missing Frames in RAW

PostTue Feb 23, 2021 7:32 pm

Hi, used the original BMPCC for years, but now it started to give issues; I'm using a 128GB 95MB/s SanDisk Extreme Pro, as I always have, and randomly I encounter two kind of issues:

- BMPCC gives "No Card" message upon power on, and stays that way; after multiple powering on/off it gets back to normal and sees the card.

- Refer to the attached image: I got a corrupted clip. It seems like the recording got corrupted in some way and the numbering of the frames got screwed, or the missing frames were not recorded; I can't tell: playing the footage on the camera, it just freezes past the point where the error occurred.

Has anyone encountered these issues before?
Is it the camera, or is it the SD?

I'm a little worried since I have a shooting job coming up and can't tell if I can trust the camera maybe just using a different SD.

Thanks!

Thanks, but not my case; I had and used this SD card for years, I think I purchased it in 2015; it's the 128GB version of the SD 95MB/s 64GB literally everybody purchased to go with the Pocket when it came out

I wrote of many read and write accesses on the card and therefore subject to an aging process

Yes, I've had similar issues with an SD card that worked before and started dropping frames. Hard to tell if it's the SD card or the camera, but in my case I replaced it with a new card from Angelbird and so far I have had no dropped frames. So it's likely an issue with the SD card starting to fail.
