DR is introducing static-like noice into voice over.

PostTue Mar 23, 2021 10:41 pm

Hello,

I am an inexperienced DR user. I use it for low key/cheap voice over tranalstions to put on yourtube for work.

My problem is that DR is not introducing an aweful static-like noice to my recordings (see video here:
). This started happening since the new update. Every new project I try to create, has this noice. Now, I know its introduced by some sort of configuration, because if I open an old project and make a new recording there, everything goes smoothly. Currently I'm working arround this problem by making a copy of an old project, opening it, deleting everything in it and importing everything new, but I know this is not a "real" solution. What I would actually like to learn is how to fix this from the get go, on a new project.

I hope you can help.

Thanks!

That is not "static" it is the effect of sampling errors. It can be caused if your frame rates do not match in the Master project settings, or if your video has variable frame rate with a wide swing in speed. Resolve is trying to keep the audio and video in step by skipping audio.

You could try going into Preferences/System/General and changing the Audio Processing Block Size to a higher value. Having said that I have had no problems with it set to 256 samples.
