Constant crashing Resolve Studio 17.1.1

PostFri Apr 09, 2021 6:41 pm

I have a new iMac 1 week old. I Installed a fresh Resolve Studio 17.1.1. Was excited to see if Resolve would run better on the new iMac. It doesn't, and runs worse. The newest Resolve on a new iMac crashes on me constantly, almost hourly. The only other thing installed on this new iMac is Apple software. FCPX, Motion Logic Pro and Compressor.

After a crash I'll just restart Resolve and continue until the next crash. This last crash Resolve wouldn't even open when I tried. Has to restart the iMac to get Resolve to open.
Anyone else with constant crashing of Resolve 17.1.1?

Since it's that new, make a thorough RAM check. My older iMac is rock solid under 17.1.1. Sometimes new hardware is DOA.

As annoying as it is to say and believe me I've ignored being told this countless times too, make sure the graphics drivers are up to date and re install Resolve.
I had a few issues with exporting where it kept crashing and a fresh install did actually work as much as I refused to believe it would make a difference

On a Mac, the system cares for graphic drivers. Well, doesn't mean they are not the reason.
I'd second a fresh install of both the system and Resolve. If that doesn't help, it's time to check the hardware.

The problem with checking the hardware (I did run a 3 hr RAM check using "REMBER") is that this is my 2nd iMac. Got one a month ago and too many kernal panic crashes so I returned it and got a new replacement since it was just a couple weeks old. So it's happening on 2 separate brand new iMacs.

I've never had a kernel panic caused by Resolve. Is it the only program triggering one?
I've seen stalls and crashes to the desktop for sure.

It's crashing on my 2018 Mac mini (with eGPU)
I downloaded mine from the apple store.
It's crashing when the timeline tries to playback a fusion clip.

I actually get these kernal panics even when Resolve is not open and running. The only other software I installed is Apple software (FCP, Motion, Logic). I talked to Apple and they said to uninstall Resolve and see if I still get the crashes. I guess I'll have to do that.

Well, you can try that, but I doubt it’s going to solve the problem. I’d bet it’s the hardware.
