Using eGPU or eGPU Pro with MacBook Air

PostThu May 13, 2021 6:25 pm

Hello,

I'm new to the forum and have a question about DaVinci Resolve Studio 17 in conjunction with a Blackmagic eGPU or eGPU Pro.

I am using DaVinci on a MacBook Air 2019 and I would like to greatly improve the performance of the MacBook. At the moment, DaVinci is a bit cumbersome to work with for small projects, but working smoothly looks different. I have to say that of course I expected that too, because the MacBookAir is not a graphics workstation. What I want to achieve with the use of an eGPU are the following:

- Smooth playback in the timeline without jerking and jumping and not being in sync with the sound (currently I have to render the cuts and effects that I have used in order to see whether what I had in mind, looks like i wish)
- Faster calculation of simple fusion compositions
- Faster calculation of the video in the deliver page (for example, I need round about 30 minutes for a 5 minutes video with few transitions, without effects and grading to output)

If the Blackmagic eGPUs can do that, it would be great.

Greetings to everyone
