Resolve Studio 17.1.1 - 8K Missing Codec H265 Main 10

PostMon May 10, 2021 11:34 am

Hi,
I found that in Resolve Studio 17.1.1 the NVIDIA H265 Main 10 Codec is missing in 8K Resolution.

Could be a false message. Your GPU may have chocked on that many pixels.
No, an iGPU is not enough, and you can't use HEVC 10 bit 4:2:2 in the free version.

Resolve just crashed to desktop on me when I tried it.

Studio 17.1.1 for Windows.
8GB GTX 1070

Nee, Herr Plank - mit anderen Codecs funktioniert das bestens.

I tried it with the new 17.2 Version and instead of the error message Resolve crashed.

Another try with Resolve Studio 17.2.1.
3 X 8K Video streams in Timeline with some Delta Keys.

NVIDIA Render Codec in Main10 available and with the latest NVIDIA Driver (466.47) rendering is OK ...
but when involving the 3rd Video stream Resolve is crashing when Output is set to H265-Main10.

The same 8K Timeline is rendered without any problems in Edius X when outputting to H265 Main 10.

Tried another simple test in Studio 17.2.1 and this one completed.

GTX 1070 8GB Gaming Driver 466.63.

I changed the NVIDIA Driver to the 3 days old 4.66.63 version and tried the same as before.

The situation went even worse:
1. your GPU Memory is full - error message from the start(GTX 1080 8GB VRAM)
2. immediate crash from Resolve
