The problem is that Win 8 uses generic USB 3 drivers that don't seem to utilise the full bandwidth of the USB 3 bus which I assume is why BM don't support Win 8 as the generic driver is absolute rubbish. If your particular machine worked with the USB 3 Shuttle under Win 7 then you may get it to work under Win 8 by forcing in newer USB 3 drivers. I've had success with Clevo Laptops under win 8 by forcing in the latest Intel USB 3 driver for Win 7
