17.2 Audio Problem

PostMon Jun 07, 2021 10:18 pm

I just upgraded and am putting together a project filmed on a Canon 90D (.mp4 files) with audio (only) recorded on iPhone in an audio app and exported as a .m4a.

I've done this before without issue, but today the audio and video are out of sync and the audio is playing in Resolve with pops that are not there when I listen to the files outside of Resolve.

It's a mess.

An iPhone is no serious audio recorder for two reasons: without a dedicated audio app it's recording 44.1 kHz, while the video world is using 48. What was your setting?
And then, it is not recording at a really constant speed. Sync problems are to be expected with longer takes.

A professional audio recorder is not that expensive any more.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

The pops and clicks are most likely caused by Resolve trying to keep the varying audio in step with the video. You could try transcoding the audio to 48k wav files. Either Handbrake or Shutter Encoder, which are both free, will do that for you.
