ProRes 422 - Rendering clips in Windows

PostThu Jun 24, 2021 5:46 am

Hello

We just installed FCPS2. Seems nice.

We plan on using ProRes 422 for an HD project that we are working on, This project is almost exclusively 3D renders, with a few 2D (afterEffects) renders in between.

Can I render to ProRes 422 (HQ) from AfterEffects in Windows? We're doing almost all of our compositing in Windows, and I'd hate to have to "find a way" to make it work by moving them to the Mac. I'd love to have a guy on our Mac editing and working on the audio while I have another guy compositing our image sequences/effects in AE on Windows.

The issue is exporting my movies from a Windows machine so that we can put them into our ProRes 422 (HQ) timeline on our Mac. If there's a better way to do this, I'll bring it to my boss & see what he says.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Creative Cloud apps have had Prores export for a while now.

There is also the free Voukoder extension for Premiere Pro and AE which supports ProRes export through ffmpg. It does ProRes 4444 with alpha channel too.

Saying "Thx for help!" is not a crime.
