I do not think all the cameras were having "blooming" issues. I have one of the first BMPCC's (Dealer orig. release) and it does not have blooming issue, except looking directly at oncoming headlights with the SLR Magic 12mm lens ( a shooting situation I am not likely to encounter) .

But I want to test it also with water reflections, a situation I am likely to encounter. Must checked direct reflection of sun off rim of my gold glasses, no "bloom/orbs" just normal clipped highlight, same shape as orig. reflection. Zack also is not having issues with his camera so far (he posted this under "Luck of the Draw" thread.

Thanks Joshua for the support and info. Glad a solution was found.

I can think of something like:
Existing owners BMPCC: You can publish here your serial numbers of blooming BMPCC?

common guys... all we care about is to have this camera work the way it should. As long as we all working together to make that happened... that is the only thing that matters here.

great progress has been made the last 24 hours.

I can remember your post Denny... viewtopic.php?f=2&t=11977&p=76454&hilit=leica#p76454

You didn't got the orbs with the Pana-Leica DG 45/2.8 is that right? Most of the shots we have seen so far exhibiting blooming are with wide lenses, if I remember. Anxious to hear more of your findings!!

Wow, that's a good bit too harsh, now isn't it...
We are grown-up people, try to act like one..

And no, they didn't start the word game. Debugging and finding a fix can take some time. Posting wild guesses too early in the process doesn't help anyone.

I just back, will make a quick cut of the video. Hang in there guys.
The company which I got my camera from are great folks which really went the extra mile. The whole thing was done in 3 hours from drop off to collection! apparently they just hooked up the cmaera to the computer via usb wire and magic.
Thankfully I am flying off tomorrow to Paris, Lyon with my pocket camera!

Good Morning all.

Just an update. I've not yet gotten the pictures I had hoped to see. So I am hoping they'll come in today, but if not I'll have to see about getting them on Monday!

It's not what I was hoping, but I wanted to let you guys know.

No need to send it to Australia. It can be done in the UK office. So, much shorter trip than to Australia.

I predict that they will absolutely NOT do this. To do so would be admitting that early cameras were defective, and they just refuse. They're counting on the large majority of buyers to not go through the whole process of returning cameras and just living with it.

Essentially, once we have the stuff required to do it, we can do it whenever. So, there's no real termination to how long we can offer the service.

Its worth mentioning again that the offices are still getting geared up for this. Also IBC is coming, so it might have to wait until after IBC, but there is no reason you cannot contact them now and get on the list.

What you think? Blooming is usually solid white disc with a hard edge. These ones seem to have falloff , and lol Chromatic Aberrations from my lens.

Singapore is a tiny country. go check on the world map it's a freaking RED dot. hahaha . so it's easy to move around and get stuff done fast here.
I walked in and passed it to the company which i bought the camera from. they in turn brought it to the factory. and it was back in 3 hours.

One question, since I bought the camera from a German dealer: In most continental European countries, the dealer is responsible (by law) for all product servicing under warranty. So I should send the camera to the dealer to get it serviced. But of course, like everyone else, I'd prefer a quick procedure to one with indirections.

What is more advisable for European customers, sending the camera directly to the Blackmagic UK office or letting the dealer handle this?

I think what some people seem to still consider as blooming is just as Mataikan stated due to the lens wide open at f0.95. Highlights look like this on other cameras with my Voigtländer 25mm .95 too.

Oh no! Now you have to fill in a report : accident at work and send it to the local safety officer.

Tony do you have an action plan to make sure staff members is out of risk of repeating same accident again, for the sake of safety I think it's best to disconect the coffee machine, permanently.

In Sweden we are serius about safety.
