DR 17.2.2 Studio - should I delete DB entries after archivin

PostSun Aug 01, 2021 1:06 pm

I have archived a project just finished and deleted all in the cache yet there is still 3.15 gigs left in the (win 10) Users/Resolve Projects/ Projects. You Tube tutes I have seen don't mention deleting these Project files, just the cache folder.

There must be more than 100 of these files ranging in size from 35mb to 1mb.

Is it safe to just delete them or can this cause problems.

I would not recommend messing with anything in the Database folders.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

What kind of files are these? A project is stored in a single folder and file ("project.db"), and the the standard configuration files of a database wouldn't add up to 3GB. Sounds like something else is in there.

i save the DB
restore the saved DB
in the Resolve UI i delete projects from the restored DB
i do this every month or so to keep the working DB light
on major updates i make a new DB and import my working projects from DRP's
keeps the amount of deadwood in the DB down to a dull roar....
i ALWAYS restore a DB after saveing it.... it's not saved until the save is validated as working

See the attach for location tree structure of all these files.
Is this (mess) because I have not correctly archived all these projects? The most recent, and largest project nearly 18 minutes has been archived properly. I started using Resolve some months ago - what a learning curve coming from Vegas.

Thx for your thoughts to all.

You've got 30+ projects there (and many more not shown?). Did you archive all 30+ of them, or just one? Do you need the ones you didn't archive?

I wouldn't delete the individual files from the database folder in the file system, but there's no reason you can't just delete the project itself from the database using the Resolve database/project management screen (the first screen you see when you fire up Resolve). Just right-click on the thumbnail for the project and select "Delete...".
