Keeping skills sharp at a day job

PostTue Aug 03, 2021 7:35 pm

Due to COVID, I find myself running a front desk at the moment and I'm not thrilled about it. I do get a fair amount of down time though so I installed Fusion 7 to screw around with when I'm not busy. Fusion 7 was the latest version this office computer can run. Anyway, saw a forum post on Facebook the other day about someone wanting to make the famous cheek glow effect that Video Copilot did over a decade ago. I followed the tutorial at home last night, translating it to Fusion. Then today at work I decided to recreate from scratch and memory. Here's the result. I don't have a way to track it to the footage, but it was fun building the effect in between answering phone calls.

Anyone else having to work a "day job" right now and finding time to play and learn?

ABL... "always be learning".

You definitely have to find the time to better yourself even despite your day job.
