BRAW/ProRes on VA 12G clarification

PostThu Oct 28, 2021 3:39 pm

Hi all.

I'm a little confused about the recording options on the VA 12G.

I understand that with my Panasonic cameras they can output clean HDMI to record BRAW.

However when I just send the HDMI from the camera into the Video Assist - I can record onto the SD cards or External SSD in ProRes - Now this isn't 'native' from the sensor but it's still recording in HD or 4k (depending on what my HDMI is outputting) - or have I got this really wrong?

Clean hdmi is for recording dnx/prores. To record braw/praw you need to enable raw over hdmi on the camera side. It’s the second filmstrip on the recording settings page. If you don’t see the icon then likely a newer firmware is required.

Good Luck
