Leica L-Log support for color transform

PostSun Nov 14, 2021 8:35 pm

Hi,

it would be incredibly useful (for me at least since I'm using the Leica SL2) if Resolve would support Leica L-Log natively for color transform etc. If only for convenience :)

Leica has published the transfer function and references here: https://en.leica-camera.com/content/dow ... ual_EN.pdf

Many thanks for your help and the great product you give the world!!

it is easier if you have someone that know how to build a DCTL to transpond the color space to another known. build something like

[rec2020/leika log - to - Arriwidegamut/ArrilogC]

and then applied that directly to the shot.

now, I see that is a 16 bit log container 2020 color space, you can actually simplify your life and do a straight color space conversion

rec2020/alexalogc - to - alexawidegamut/alexa logc no tone mapping, no white point adjustment

and just drop the 18%gray by about 5% with offset and then slap a standard arrilut on it: you should be in the ballpark.

do you have few frames of outdoor I can look at?

On the 404 page just click on the left-hand Home box. It will take you to the Leica home page.

Found this on LGG today:
https://liftgammagain.com/forum/index.p ... gin.16522/

But, yeah, dude wants money.

IMHO it'd be up to Leica/BM to implement that support (not that I need it) ;-)

@walter - I will be shooting a few camera tests in the coming days with the Leica SL2 in L-Log and so I have been looking to find an IDT to move into Arri Log C3. I'll give your suggestion you mentioned earlier in the thread a go. Thanks. Would you still like some frames to have a play with? If so, are there any specific test shot scenarios you would like to see?

@walter - Hi Walter, I managed to shoot a couple test shots in sunlight at neutral, 1 stop over, 2 stops and 3 stops over.

I’ll share a google drive link in this thread in case anyone else is interested:

All the best.
