Tamron DiII SP 17-50mm F/2.8 VC works only partially with new firmware (was ok before) - Iris button does not work but if that is not touched manual adjustment is working. If Iris button is touched it breaks manual adjustment as well.

Odd that its responding like that considering it was fine before.

The Canon EF-S 17-55mm 1:2.8 IS USM is working fine for me.

This is bit weird but after several restarts of the camera (and weekend in between) the lens problem seems to be disappearing and the above mentioned Tamron is working most of the time as expected for iris adjustment both manually and with iris-button.

The guy in the Sigma 18-35 specific thread said it worked perfectly. But I have no firsthand experience.

Hi there I have just purchased my BMCC 2.5k EF version and have an issue with the Canon 70-200 f4 with the aperture problem.. I was, in a way, relieved to find it is not a broken camera.. I have a few other lenses and can confirm the following all perfect.

Sigma A 30mm f1.4
Sigma A 18-35 f1.8
Sigma 8-16 f4.5-5.6

I think the new Sigma lenses are stunning for Cinema and better than L glass, I might have to get rid of my 70-200 and opt for a Sigma version.

Happy to be a member here, I will now have a look around to find other useful info about the BMCC.

Thank you

My personal 24-70 lens works just fine with my BMCC I got on Friday. My works 24-70 does not work though. I bought mine in 2007. No idea when my work purchased theirs. My serial is 9644xx. Works is 8617xx. I'm guessing there was a change in electronics from the 86 serial numbers and the 96 serial numbers.

Just querying regarding the Tokina 12-24 f/4 as only one person seems to have chimed in to say it's working, just curious as to whether anyone else has used it and had infinity focus problems (as has been the case with the other Tokinas). Thinking of picking one up as a 'keep in bag' zoom for emergencies.

Took the plunge on the Tokina 12-24 f/4. I can second that it works perfectly fine with no issues, iris control works and no infinity focus problems.

This is with the latest firmware.

After seeing all these posts, I'm wondering if Blackmagic will ever get these to work. L series is good, but we've had a few firmware updates and we're still not there. I'm wondering if I should keep my lens a bit longer in the hope it does get supported.

I'm off to the camera store later too!

Thanks to everyone for sharing so much info. This thread (and answers to the one I started) has helped me build a decent list, so I can go to the camera store with my camera and ask smart questions!

I got one today and it seems to work well. Aperture and infinity all working.

I'm running firmware 1.4.1

Newbie here.

I tried searching the forums but couldn't come up with an answer regarding lens compatibility. (It's not on the master sticky list) I'm looking to purchase a Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens and would like to know if this lens and the BMCC will play nicely together. Thanks in advance! :D

Just adding that my Canon 16-35 f/2.8 V1 works intermittently on firmware 1.4.2.
Canon 24-70 f/2.8 V1 doesn't work at all as others have noted.

There were no problems with the 16-35 first few weeks I had the camera but now at least once a shoot it will refuse to change the iris. Rebooting the camera, taking the lens on and off, etc. doesn't seem to have an effect but eventually I will go to change the iris and it will suddenly be working again. The lens works fine on a Canon body and that has been my last ditch method of changing the aperture when the camera won't co-operate.

100 macro f2.8 (no L) doesn't work! This is a short video that shows the problem.
I try with all FW, from 1.2.1 to 1.5: I can't downgrade to 1.2 & 1.1 because my BMCC has been manufactured after 1.2 FW.
Thanks. David.

I don't understand why someone says that this lens works fine. I know that only the 100 macro f2.8 L IS works. My lens could be faulty, but it works on my reflex.

In the BMCC Tech Spects
http://www.blackmagicdesign.com/product ... /techspecs

They say ( Lens Mount EF and ZE mount compatible with electronic iris control ) and must to have a * with not total compatibility for all lens. Of course this its nor a very good marketing spect jejejejejeje

I've been using the lens since the day I got my bmcc in November last year. I'm a macro guy. I use it ALL the time. I have no reason to lie. Maybe it's like the Tokina issue. Some are just a problem and some are fine. Though I would have no idea how to fix it.

Dear David thanks a lot for the reply. Which is the serial code of your lens? Probably there are some differences about the manufactered date of the lens. Thanks again. David.

I've used 2 of this lens. The current one was bought in March S/N 02171946. Manufactured in February this year. It works flawlessly on both cameras. The other lens I'd owned since 2002. It was borrowed by my brother in law (without asking) and promptly broken in February (hence the purchase of the second lens). That first one worked perfectly on my first camera but I never tried it on the second most recent camera.

Hopefully you can figure something out from that.

Please any one that could help solve something for me would be of great help. I have the BMCC EF mount and at first it was reading aperture on my Sigma 17-35 f/2.8/4 Aspherical lens, however now it is not showing any aperture information. All the connections seem fine and it is recognising other lenses, the lens is locked in place too. I haven't up dated any firmware before or after this problem either.

I'm kind of lost as what to do?

I don't see the NON IS Canon 70-200 1:2.8 L listed. I purchased this around 2002 along with a NON IS 24-70 L which is obviously a V1 and looks like that doesn't work. The EF mount doesn't look too beneficial if your canon lenses don't work on it.

Thanks,

No longer being updated. We are now on Firmware 1.5.1 and not much has changed.

I might manage a new list when the BMPC4K ships.

I've been using the lens since the day I got my bmcc in November last year. I'm a macro guy. I use it ALL the time. I have no reason to lie. Maybe it's like the Tokina issue. Some are just a problem and some are fine. Though I would have no idea how to fix it.

Greetings ¿Have you tried these Macro lenses with your BMCC?

- Canon EF 50mm f/2.5 Compact Macro
- Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro
- Canon Macro Photo MP-E 65mm f/2.8 1-5x
- Canon EF 180mm f/3.5L Macro

I'm mainly curious about the MP-E 65mm f/2.8 1-5x, and a bit of the EF 180mm f/3.5L. Thanks.

They should all have IS working on lenses that have IS. Any exception was listed.

The new BMCC 4K Ef Mount have a new electronic system for Lens, the 85mm 1.2L work fine and may be others lens, the BMCC 2.5k Ef Lens our camera is an unfinished prototype that they released too early and now we are correcting.

Hey Rafael,

The EF-S 60mm is great! I don't have the Canon 180mm, but I do have the Tamron 180mm. It's ok but I prefer to use the canon 100mm non-IS with kenko extension tubes. The kenko's are cheaper than the canon and, frankly, better. A friend of mine has the canon 180mm but I like my 100mm with the tubes a LOT more. The MP-E 65mm is a BEAST of a lens... but it can be very tricky. You focus by moving the camera into the focal plane. Wide open you literally have a couple of mm DOF at best. At f/16 you get almost an inch. It can take some getting use to. You need light and a nice micro adjustable head... but when you pull it off, oh man, it's for the ages!

There is nothing to say that is the case. Could just as easily be that the BMPC4K has ver 2 firmware that will get released with the BMPC4K is released. BM have stated on numerous occasions that they are working on the BMCC firmware.... Lets see what happens over the coming weeks.
