Can't add custom presets to Quick Export

PostTue Apr 19, 2022 1:23 am

Page 551 of the manual says it should still work as in version 17, but 18.0b build 7 is missing the "Quick Exports" section in the Render Settings option menu.

This is a production stopper for me. Are there plans to reintroduce this feature in a future release of the beta?

Thank you!

Is this just a Windows 10 thing? Confirmed that I still cannot add custom Quick Exports with Build 10.

Nope. I wasn't planning to do this until they fixed it, but your question prompted me to test upgrading to 18b2 on my Mac and the situation is the same over there.

Same experience here.

@Black Magic: is this removal permanent, or will this come back when v18 goes GA? Thanks.

please dont leave it out. it's a great feature. Delivery page is cumbersome. We sometimes just need to do a quick export and this is so helpful.

Today we are out of v18beta, but it was not brought back. I hope we will get "custom presets quick export" restored one day. It was a great feature.

I don't understand why BMD product management doesn't chime-in on issues like this. It would be nice to know that they acknowledge the issue is present, wouldn't it?

Confirming that this bug still exists in the release version of 18. BMD devs, can we get at least some acknowledgement on this issue?

Still unavailable in the new 18.0.4 Build 5 release.

May I ask what is the intention of these blank slots if the product management team does not intend to bring back custom quick exports?

It's certainly advertised in the reference manual so I believe it is supposed to be there. Hard to imagine why it hasn't returned.

It’s getting a little ridiculous now. This is an important bit of functionality that is just plain missing. It’s supposed to be there, I mean we can see the empty placeholders for custom presets!

Did BMD decide to remove this feature? Chapter 32, "Quick Export", is now just a single page. No mention at all about customizing the Quick Export dialog box.

Image

Chapter 185, "Using the Deliver Page", page 3382 does mention this functionality, although at this point my guess is that this section has not yet been updated for 18.x since it still shows the old style Quick Export dialog box. :?

Image

BMD, why the silence? Can you confirm the fate of custom Quick Export settings?

Lol I know I'm shouting into the void because it's the holidays, but I literally just pulled the trigger and purchased the Studio version in the hopes that adding custom quick exports was a Studio-only feature. Can't believe something this basic and useful is now a former feature. Come on BMD!

Seems to be working on 2 systems listed below. Can L Click on 'Custom Export', select video & audio format, click onto '3 dots' and save. New render appears to LHS of Custom Export. Can equally open a custom export, make changes and save. This would explain non response from BM.

Apologies if I have misunderstood the problem

Yeah, you are slightly misunderstanding the problem. The problem isn't about the ability to create and save Custom Exports. The problem is the ability to add these Custom Exports to the Quick Export menu. In DR 17, you could add any Custom Export to your Quick Export menu, allowing you to access them right in the Edit Page. This is supposed to be possible still. It's not. You used to be able to click the '3 dots' and there was an option to "Add to Quick Export menu". That's not there anymore.

Incredibly disappointing, especially in light of the fact that we have reached the one-year anniversary of this critical feature still missing.

Yeah - especially that there's no easy way to batch add many timelines with selected preset. In days of many versions of the same timeline (1:1, 4:5, 2:3, 9x16, 16x9 etc) it's a lot of unnecessary clicking. I'm getting by with default QT H264 but it would be great to be able to change/add MP4 H264 or many others.

This is what I do when I need to batch add many timelines with a single preset (beginning at 1:14)
