BMPCC6K Time/Date loss after disconnected from powersourc

PostThu Jun 09, 2022 10:53 am

Hello.

I have (had) the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K
the internal Clock/Date changes to an indefinite, but wrong data/time after disconnecting it from any power source for a few days (in some cases after 96 hours already)

I complained it at the German service-center of BlackMagic, they confirmed it and sent it to UK, where, how they told me, the internal "motherboard" has been replaced.

After receiving the camera back, the same problem occurred.
So the reseller refunded the camera.

Thereafter, I bought a brand new BMPCC 6K...
Same Problem!!

So, what is this about?
Is it an error?
or is it a known bug, which I have to live with?

Because:

-There isn't nearly anything, about this bug on google.
-I found only one topic about this bug here...
-BM-Service in Germany didn't know anything about it, and repaired it - so it seems to be a rare case?

But then, how is it possible, that it happened twice to me?

I send the brand-new camera back for an exchange as well.
Wondering if the exchanged will have the same bug.
I will report!

Is anyone knowing something about this "bug"?

this is normal with BMPCC cameras
they do not have a battery for realtimeclock
only a capacitor since the first BMPCC OG

change your service station!

Hello,
I just made a post because of the same problem, then I saw this one. I have the BMPCC 6Kpro, and the difference is that mine loses Date/time when it is switched off but with full batteries inside and in the grip.
What to do?

Beste Grüße,

Jochen Funk

Doesn't matter if there are batteries inside. The super capacitor used for time and date only gets charged when the camera is switched on.
Saying "Thx for help!" is not a crime.

It can be annoying when you want to sort your footage by date and time. Therefore I'll have made it a habit to check time and date in the studio in the morning before rushing to a shooting day.

I spend the day before a shoot charging batteries, cleaning lenses, making sure everything is in it's proper case...and setting the Date/Time of all recording devices.

Just SOP. ;)
