Route tally signal?

PostTue Oct 08, 2013 9:04 pm

My studio uses a Tricaster 8000 which does tally over a USB connected box from Tally-lights.com. I need to figure out a way to get the tally signal into our router. Currently we have a Compact VideoHub. I think we need to expand our router anyway, so getting a router with deck control is possible. If I take a 5 volt signal (simple on or off) and put it on the RS-422 connector of a Videohub, would it be routable just like any other signal, or is 422 more complex than that?

tally is generally gpi gpo or contact closure rs 232 422 etc a serial communication port the two do not mix you would need a device that takes contact closure converts it to serial code that then outputs to the rs 422. it would not be wise to introduce 5 volts to any of the pins of the 9pin connector. Good luck

No the simple closure tally won't route through the Videohub.

Either you build a simple tally splitter with an Arduino or something or you wrap the **** in serial and go through the deck control of the videohub but that is overkill.

I have no solution on a wired system at this time.

I'm working on it.

The only solution at this time is my Wireless Tally Controller. It has a range of about 1000ft
