Media Not displaying:

PostTue Aug 09, 2022 10:06 pm

EDIT: After paying for Resolve, everything imported fine. The free versions just doesn't support 10bit and some MXF file types.

Hello all, I'm new to Resolve (coming from Premiere) so please forgive my ignorance.

I'm having an issue with viewing a lot of media types after import. Resolve will display the waveform but not the video. It will display a few quicktime files but no MFX.

I checked the approved codec list and the media I'm trying to import should be fine.

Here's my info:

Resolve - free

Windows 10.
Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-9900K CPU @ 3.60GHz
128 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeFORCE RTX 2080 Ti

Use MediaInfo to inspect the source and indicate the source media spec. Post a link to a sample of the source media for someone to diagnose.

Is this behaviour specific to a particular Format and Codec?

Is this behaviour specific to the Edit page or is it also an issue on the Fairlight page?

the free version does not support all codecs that the studio version supports. 10bit MXF is not supported, so that might be what's going on here

That makes sense in regards to the 10 bit MFX. I may need to just upgrade to the paid version

Thanks for reporting this. You may want to add a "SOLVED" to your title.
No, an iGPU is not enough, and you can't use HEVC 10 bit 4:2:2 in the free version.

Studio 18.6.5, MacOS 13.6.5
MacBook M1 Pro, 16 GPU cores, 32 GB RAM and iPhone 15 Pro
Speed Editor, UltraStudio Monitor 3G, iMac 2017, eGPU
