4:3 to 16:9 UpDownCross

PostSun Oct 13, 2013 9:05 pm

Hello

I am currently trying to get a 4:3 HD image to input on a videomixer without black bars on the image. I've got a UpDownCross-converter from Blackmagic which I've setup to downscale the image to 720p, however, the dip switches that I change the aspect ratio are not doing anything. I would like to crop the image a bit so that I won't get the black bars on the left and right edge of the image.

Do anyone have any idea how to do something like this?

maybe i am mis-understanding what you are trying to do. But you cant have a 4:3 HD video. What i think you mean is you have a 16:9 video with black pillar boxes on the sides, giving you a 4:3 video in a 16:9 frame. Depending on if you have a SD or HD frame size for the entire 16:9 image you will need to select the 720 format, then use the appropriate up or down converter setting. i think you would need to down convert using the pillar box setting.
