Smooth playback for preview clips

PostSat Aug 13, 2022 5:46 am

Hey guys,
I wonder if there are any options to have a smooth playback for previewing clips?
There are so many possibilities, like Proxies, render Cache e.g., for a great Timeline editing experience.

On the road with a smaller machine, sometimes I have trouble to playback clips.
I'm not sure anymore but isn't there a setting to set the quality on the preview window for smooth playback?

There’s no one-click solution. It all depends on your source format and your machine.
If you need only editing and mild grading, proxies or optimized media are the way to go.
If you need some Fusion, caching or render in place.
Don’t approach DR with your preconceptions from another NLE.
Many features are better, some worse, most are different.

Proxies and Optimized Media would be the way for improving playback in the Source Viewer (and the timeline, of course).
