i gave up my old wacom intuos in favour of an xpen deco pro. relatively cheap alternative. seems to work as it should in ps, but i'm not a pro in that area...
have it to my right (right-handed), mapped to fully screen on a 32" qhd monitor and set up in 'mouse' mode. there are 8 programmable buttons, (along with two on the pen) which i'm still debating what to use for. at present i have cut/paste, blade/pointer, del/backspace, desktop/explorer.
i use it in conjunction with a logitech g110 keyboard, which also has 8 prog. keys, hence my still figuring out what my left hand's doing whilst my right is...
since i physically can't use a mouse for an extended period (dupuytren's contracture), a pen is perfect.
my wife has also uses a pen tablet (wacom bamboo) for many years too. no way either of us would go back to mice...
casey faris did an interesting youtube about mouse vs pen, but i think it wasn't really very fair since he didn't use a two button pen...
