there is a real danger that license code could be stolen?

PostTue Mar 28, 2023 8:50 am

Hey there!

I read that if someone activates the license number on a third PC one of the previous 2 gets deactivated automatically, is it true?

Because in this case I'm going to keep my activation card in a very safe place... I travel and in this case I will not keep the card with me...
I ask also if to me seems strange this behavior, cause I also read that you have to deactivate the Davinci Resolve license before making it free to activate on another PC...

just to be safe...

Thank You
My Best
Gaetano

Deactivating before moving it to a third machine is a good idea.
I keep my key in the cloud when traveling. Encrypted.
DaVinci Resolve is very capable even for free, but you need the right hardware!

Studio 18.5.1, MacOS 12.6.8
MacBook M1 Pro, 16 GPU cores, 32 GB RAM and iPad Pro M2 16 GB

but so if someone take found my card and take a photo of it, he can then deactivate my activated license computers?

Yes, if they know what it is. Keep your card in a safe place so it won't get lost or stolen, and keep a separate copy of the code elsewhere as well. You may need the code in the future, for instance if your system drive fails and you have to replace it.
Resolve Studio 18.6 build 9
Dell XPS 8700 i7-4790, 24GB RAM, 2 x Samsung Evo SSDs, GTX1060/6GB (537.42 Studio driver), Win10 Home (22H2), Speed Editor, Faderport mk1, Eizo ColorEdge CS230 + BenQ GW2270 + Samsung SA200, Canon C100mk2, Ninja 2, Zoom H2n.

Thank You Charles!
Just sounds strange to me, so, why make a deactivation function? then having to go through the deactivation is the standard way for the majority of the software...

If your system crashes, you don’t want the activation to die with it.
