Scaling PNG/Images In Resolve?

PostMon Mar 28, 2016 12:33 am

So I'm trying to drop a PNG logo in the bottom corner to overlay on some footage and I can't figure out how to properly scale it.

I used the "ZOOM" in the "TRANSFORM" section of the inspector and it wont get any smaller than 0.250...It also wont scale smaller even if you try to drag the box around the image.

What is the proper way to scale still images/icons/etc in DaVinci Resolve?

make it the right size in Photoshop, change the setting to "keep it pixel to pixel" (the first option in the scaling), position accordingly.

Or try another node.

Not scaling down any lower then 0.250 is the normal behaviour of this tool. Pretty annoying indeed.
as Walter said, feed Resolve with a proper PNG frame size but make sure to check image scaling settings
It may be the case Resolve is scaling up automatically to fit the timeline frame ( as per project settings) before your edit inspector take action. Normal settings are to "scale to fit"

Thanks for the info guys.

So basically, the answer is to prep it outside Resolve at this point...thats kind of unfortunate, but I suppose that will work. Just a little extra step.

Is there a feedback form for Resolve, like in FCPX?

you can do a dummy project in resolve with the resolution timeline of the final geometry, like 200x200, load only that clip and export it if you don't have another software.

FCP X allows you to drag the corners to your preferred size, then drag the image itself to the desired position. :(
Here, in Resolve, you have to drag the numbers in the "zoom" and "position" dialogues; clumsy, but workable.
