That's possibly a corrupt installer. Try downloading it again. Are you downloading from the Blackmagic Support page?

I am having the same issue, despite downloading a fresh copy of the installer, I get this message
“Source file not found: C:\Users\vetar\AppData\Local\Temp\7zS98ECB7F5\ResEx101.cab. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.” Really need some help how to solve this one :-) thank you

It seems like you're running into a similar issue with the missing `.cab` file during the installation. Here are some additional steps you can try to fix this error:

  1. Clear Your Temp Folder: Sometimes, old or corrupted files in the Temp folder can interfere with installations. To clear the Temp folder, do the following:
    - Press `Win + R` to open the Run dialog, type `%temp%`, and press Enter.
    - Delete all the files and folders in this Temp directory (some files might be in use and won’t delete; that’s okay).
  2. Use a Different Extraction Tool: If you are using a compressed installer (like a .zip), try using a different tool to extract the files, such as 7-Zip or WinRAR. Sometimes, the built-in Windows extractor may not handle large or complex files properly.
  3. Extract and Install from a Different Location: Avoid installing directly from your Temp folder, as files there can get deleted or blocked during installation. Instead:
    - Extract the installer to a different location on your drive (like your Desktop or another folder).
    - Run the installation directly from this new location.
  4. Disable Antivirus During Installation: Antivirus software can sometimes block or interfere with certain installation files. Try temporarily disabling your antivirus software while installing Resolve, but make sure to re-enable it afterward.
  5. Run the Installer as Administrator: Right-click on the installer and select "Run as Administrator." This can help bypass permission-related issues during the installation.
  6. Try a Different User Account: Sometimes, user-specific permissions can cause installation issues. Try creating a new user account on your Windows PC and attempt the installation from that account.

Hopefully, these steps help resolve the installation error you’re experiencing!
Saying "Thx for help!" is not a crime.

2a. Don't double click the downloaded zip file and double click the exe.
Extract the zip file to a folder you know you have permissions for (e.g. your desktop) then double click the exe in the extracted folder

I had the beta test version and installed new official 19.0.1 version yesterday. I could start the software, but after choosing a new project or opening an old one I got only blank window without any menus nor work screens. Any mouse-click resulted to crashing (waiting for software to respond) and had to force-close the software.

Tried to re-install sw for several times and and also tried betas with same result every time.

Found the solution this morning. Deleted (moved it to another location just in case) the C:\Users\<usernama>\AppData\Roaming\Blackmagic Design -folder and started the Resolve again. This helped and now I have no issues

I recently bought the Resolve Studio through a reseller, receiving the dongle, and now that I have updated Resolve from 18 to 19, and have updated the OS from Catalina to Sonoma, Resolve tells me that I need to buy the studio version to be able to use higher-end features, such as transcribe.

If I can be pointed to the proper place to make sure everything has been installed correctly and that the dongle is being seen, that would be of immense help.

Thank you,

If you are getting a prompt to upgrade to the Studio version it means you have installed the free version. You have to install the Studio version as it is a separate installer. Go to the Support page on the Blackmagic website and download from there. You will need to unzip the folder before installation.

Thank you so much for your guidance on that. When I first went to the support page, it must not have loaded fully or correctly, because it did not show the ability to download the Studio version, but when I went back later, it did show things correctly and, made sure to rename the old/wrong version, and loaded up Studio, and now it's working correctly, including the transcribing.

Thank you!!!

The installation failed despite following all the steps carefully. I double-checked the system requirements, verified the download, and ensured all dependencies were in place. Still, the process stopped midway with an unclear error message. Restarting and retrying didn’t help. It’s frustrating not knowing what went wrong. Clearer documentation or error handling would really help. Hoping for a fix or advice from the community soon. Please assist if you can.

Re: Failed Installation

PostSun Jun 01, 2025 1:49 pm

I've been using Resolve Studio on my home laptop since 2021. (I also use it on a separate license at my work on a different machine.) I installed versions from 17 up to 18.6, but I have been running into the same problem ever since with all builds of version 19 and now the new version 20. All attempts at installation fail.

When i try to install I get the following error messages:

"Failed to install DaVinci control panels. Continue with others components?"

If I press "Yes" it will proceed for a while and then I get:

"Failed to install Blackmagic RAW player. Continue with others components?"

A "Yes" results in:

"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable."

And so on....

This has happened the same way with multiple attempts to install version 19 and now version 20, with multiple downloads.

I have emptied my temp folder (as was suggested), tried moving the zip folder onto the desktop before extracting with Windows Explorer, and tried running the installation as adaminstrator. So far, no different result. I have not tried deleting my existing version 18.6, as I'm rather afraid I might have no effective version of Studio left to use. (Also, I'm not sure what documentation I'd have left to prove I bought Studio. I originally purchased a bundle of Studio 17 plus the Speed Editor from B&H.)

I'm running an Asus Zenbook Device name LAPTOP-5V1H032O
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10870H CPU @ 2.20GHz 2.21 GHz
Installed RAM 32.0 GB (31.8 GB usable)
Product ID 00330-53779-49518-AAOEM
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Edition Windows 11 Pro
Version 24H2
Installed on ‎2/‎4/‎2025
OS build 26100.4061
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.84.0

This problem started before the installation with an earlier version of Windows 11 and has not changed with the current version.

Any suggestions that may help will be greatly appreciated!!

Try using WinRAR or 7-zip to unpack the installer.

Thanks for the help.

However, I tired using WinRAR to unpack the installer, and got the same result when I tried to install.

Are you really extracting the archive and then starting the installation from the extracted file, or are you opening the archive with WinRAR and starting the installation from there?

I've run the extraction of the zip file with both Windows Explorer and WinRVR.

That gives me two files, an .exe file and a data file.

I then run the .exe file, which tells me it is (also) extracting files.

From there I get the window to start installation.''
