Macbook Air for Prores HQ

Hi guys,

I am new to editing, Have a question.. Is macbook air enough for editing prores HQ, what is the best configuration for that?

Editing in an NLE like FCPX or Premier, yes. Grading in Resolve, no.

Pretty much any Mac from the last 5yrs can edit ProRes HQ in Final Cut Pro and in more recent years in FCPX.

ProRes was developed as an editing format that was easy on the processor. As long as you have reasonably fast drives it works well on most systems.

Thanks Roberts for that advice, I believe that the current Macbook pros also cannot handle resolve, so would you recommend going for a cheaper macbook if I prefer to work only on Prores HQ ?

The top of the range MacBook Pro will run Resolve but it's performance only "ok".

Any of the current shipping Macs will run FCPX and manage just fine with ProRes. Spend some money on a fast external drive like a Thunderbolt drive. It will seriously speed up your work flow.

Your other option is to build a Hackintosh. Here is my build that I use for Resolve and FCPX alongside my MacBook Pro:
