I haven’t used the free version (16) of DR for months and successfully opened it yesterday. Upon opening, I received a pop-up saying that v17 is available, so I clicked to update thinking that it would be great to get the latest version.
Sadly, Version 17 did not work and I was stuck on a screen that said it was looking for Control Surfaces. I spent hours troubleshooting. I decided to uninstall, reboot and reinstall v 17. Same issue, so I uninstalled and downloaded the latest version of 16. After reboot and reinstall, v16 opened but was not functional. When I launched an old project, a blank DR screen appeared and nothing else (no controls to add videos, edit timelines, etc.).
There were no warnings to do all of the stuff I now see in the forums (uninstall all of the associated apps for the old version, delete files from the program directory, delete items from the registry, etc.) It’s complicated and not the easy install that I thought it would be. I tried some of the things I found on the forum (really need a start to finish list of complete uninstall and reinstall) and got a version of 16 to look like it might work because it asked me setup questions.
Using the DR Project Server I created a new DB. All my old projects are gone (they may be in a folder I renamed ) and a new project opens with the same blank screen and no controls.
Can you help me either get v17 to work or return me back to v16, please?
Configuration stats provided. I created a log file using the CapturLogs Bat. However, the desktop file I tried to upload (207MB zip file named DaVinci-Resolve-logs-20210307_101113) returns the following error from the Forum: "413 Request Entity Too Large." Is there another way to share it?
