Thank you Dwaine for your support,
I did it, then after the quick setup guide it didn't start with the usual workspace but it showed me a window (I've never seen that) that said "DaVinci Resolve quit unexpectedly" asking to send the report.

After that I create a new log and NFO files:

There's not enough info to see what might be going on. In Resolve 16, we were not logging driver and Windows version info, so I can't tell if some change in those areas might be causing the issue.

My only other suggestion is to try a clean install of Resolve. Below is the process for that.

This process is for Resolve 18, but is the same for 16. Since you are using the free version, the items regarding the activation codes do not apply to you. I've modified the path to match your system. Also where it says at the end to install the current version, you'd install 16.2.8.

Try this and lets see what happens. If this doesn't fix the issue, then something else has changed on your system to cause the issue.

Resolve 18 Clean Windows Uninstall/Install with User Data Preservation

The following removes ALL user specific Resolve data, including project and config data, to allow a clean Resolve install to solve issues created by corrupt user data.

However, as part of the process, copies are made of the current user data, in case there is project or config data that can later be copied back into the clean install.

This clean install will require that you re-enter your Resolve Activation code, if you are not using Resolve license dongle. So be sure you have your activation code at hand before you do this process.

Also, if you are using an activation code, and you can still launch Resolve, you should deactivate the Resolve activation code before doing this process, so as not to use an extra activation. This is done in the Resolve Help menu.

Before going through the process, you need to set some File Explorer Options, so you can see hidden files and file extensions:

Open File Explorer Options, and on the View tab, enable "Show hidden files, folders and drives".

Also unselect "Hide extensions for known file types".

Now, uninstall all Resolve related stuff in the Windows Settings - Apps and Features area.

So go to the Windows Settings area, and select Apps & features.

In the Apps & features list are all the apps installed on your system. To uninstall an app, select it, and there will either be an uninstall button, or you may need to right click the app to access the Uninstall menu.

Uninstall the following, if they exist in the list:

Blackmagic Raw Common Components
DaVinci Resolve
DaVinci Resolve Control Panels
DaVinci Resolve Keyboards
Anything Fairlight related

Once you've done that, in File Explorer, go to this folder:

C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design

The DaVinci Resolve folder should have been removed when you uninstalled DaVinci Resolve. But if it's still there for some reason, delete it.

Now in File Explorer go to this folder:

C:\Users\Treddy\AppData\Roaming\Blackmagic Design

Rename the DaVinci Resolve folder to DaVinci Resolve.orig

Then in File Explorer go to this folder:

C:\ProgramData\Blackmagic Design

Rename the DaVinci Resolve folder to DaVinci Resolve.orig

This has now removed all the DaVinci Resolve data, including user specific projects and config data.

Now install the current Resolve version, and see if it launches. If not, send a new Resolve log and NFO file.

Hey Dwaine, hope you are well.

Yesterday, my davinci resolve crashed during an export and i decided to try again today. But now it simply won't open. I tryed multiple solutions found online but none of them worked. Have already uninstalled and installed it twice. I'm getting quite desesperate at this point. Ah, and between today and yesteday, my windows 11 updated to version 23H2. Please please help.

Hi
I have a similar problem but my Resolve 19 is installed on Rocky Linux version 9.4.
I installed Resolve 19 this morning and it does not start. System is INtel 10 gen i9 with Radeon x6600 graphics card (I saw Resolve will not run on Intel graphics even though it does on MacOs!)
When I clck on Resolve to start, the whirligig thing goes round a few seconds, then nothing.

Yes, Intel GPUs are supported on Mac and Windows. But not Linux.

Likely you have some sort of AMD driver issue. AMD GPUs on Linux are tricky.

If you can provide a Resolve diagnostics log file, that could be helpful. In your Applications area should be a DaVinci Resolve Capture Logs app. Normally has a gear icon.

Good evening, Dwaine I am reaching out as recently as of this afternoon resolve studio won't open I have the paid version license and everything were verified before and I could use it no issues well this afternoon it stopped working the banner to load will open but it crashes as its checking licenses When i check task manager it shows 1 not responding and the other suspended. I deleted resolve studio, and everything related to resolve I tried to download everything on the installer tried on downloading resolve studio same problem. I backed up my computer to a previous recovery point and still have this issue please help I would greatly appreciate it I have attached the

Looks like it stopped working just after saving the Untitled Project 1 on 10-15 at 16:20.

Then on all subsequent restarts, it seems to be hanging at the point where it loads Fusion components.

There is no issue with the config files.

In case something has gotten corrupted in the Preferences area, do the following, which will move the current prefs and build a default set of prefs. Let me know what that does. If you still have issues after doing this, send another Resolve log, and also send a Windows System Information .NFO file. Generate that by opening the Windows System Information app and selecting its File - Save menu.

The following process will MOVE your Resolve preferences files to a backup location. This will force Resolve to create a new set of default preferences files when it launches. If this solves the launch issue, that would imply there was some corrupt preferences related file causing the startup issue.

Open Windows File Explorer Options, and on the View tab, enable "Show hidden files, folders and drives".

Also unselect "Hide extensions for known file types".

Then in File Explorer, navigate to this folder:

C:\Users\CLX RA\AppData\Roaming\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve

Rename the Preferences folder to Preferences.old

Now see if Resolve will start.

If it does, it will have all the Resolve preferences set to default values.

Hi,

Just updated from version 18 something to 19.1.2, and now (big surprise) DR won't open. I've tried rebooting, reinstalling, clean reinstalling (following this guide[1], naming the Preferences folder to ~.old, nothing works. When opening with clean preferences, I get the welcome prompt to set said prefs, but when that's finished and the loading banner considers itself done (I guess?) nothing. DR removes itself from the Task Manager and I'm back to zero.

Open the Windows "Add or remove programs" Control Panel, and uninstall the DaVinci Resolve Control Panels app.

I've tried that too, to no avail. Just did a full uninstall and tried installing again, and nothing. Initial preference settings, splash screen, then the app dies.

Apparently you have not uninstalled the DaVinci Resolve Control Panel app, because that's still what's causing the crash.

OK, that's super weird, because I've scoured my computer for all things Blackmagic and DR between each install. Should I try to install DR without Control Panel, is that what you mean?

No. You should open the Windows "Add and remove programs" Control Panel:

I am having the exact same issue, on Windows 11, I have looked through my installed apps over and over again and have not found anything relating to Blackmagic, Fairlight, or Resolve, I have also used the Windows uninstall debugger and have not found anything.

Need a complete Resolve diagnostics log and Windows System Information .NFO file, as detailed below:

In a File Explorer window, go to:

C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve

and run CaptureLogs

This will place a Resolve log file named similar to this on your Windows Desktop: DaVinci-Resolve-logs-20181228_140434.zip (You may not see the .zip extension if your system is set to hide known extensions).

Then open the Windows System Information app and do a File - Save (Not a File Export), which will generate a .NFO file.

Place both those files on a file sharing site and provide links to the files here. Make sure the links don't require access credentials.

If you are a new Forum user, you may not be allowed to post URLs. If this happens, just put a space near the front of the URL, so the system doesn't think it's a URL.

It appears your Python 3.12 install is causing Resolve to crash. If you are not using Python, removing it would be the simplest solution. If you are using it, updating it should help.

Thank you so much! I actually am using Python but it is weird, it was using an old installation I never pointed to in my environment paths. I deleted it and it finally works, thank you so much!

Hey, super confused, was working 48 hours ago and I have had no updates and installed nothing that should interact with Davinci, I had work that I had to do quickly so I uninstalled and reinstalled but still not working, any help would be appreciated. I attempted to upload logs but the maximus file size of this page is 1000 kb, mine are 1,400 kb

Yes, that works.

Logs are a bit confusing. It started crashing on 6-3. A couple of 6-3 crashes, then a couple of 6-4 crashes. But the next to last 6-4 crash was at 15:48. But then there is one good log on 6-4 at 15:49 to 16:08. Then the final crash log at 16:37.

So crash crash crash crash, then working, then crash.

What changed between the crash at 15:48 and the working project at 15:49?

Were any displays added or changed to the laptop? Or any other external peripherals/storage devices?

And then was something changed from the working project end at 16:08 and the final crash at 16:37?

A Windows System Information .NFO file might be helpful. Open the Windows System Information app and select its File - Save menu to generate the .NFO file.

The NFO doesn't point to anything helpful.

So try the following and see if that helps:

The following process will MOVE your Resolve preferences files to a backup location. This will force Resolve to create a new set of default preferences files when it launches. If this solves the launch issue, that would imply there was some corrupt preferences related file causing the startup issue.

Open File Explorer Options, and on the View tab, enable "Show hidden files, folders and drives".

Also unselect "Hide extensions for known file types".

Then in File Explorer, navigate to this folder:

C:\Users\jonah\AppData\Roaming\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve

Rename the Preferences folder to Preferences.old

Now see if Resolve will start.

If it does, it will have all the Resolve preferences set to default values.

If you had more than the standard default "Local Database" project library, those will not be shown. You'll need select the "Add Project Library" button and then select the "Connect" item, then enter the name and location of the project library(s). You can find that info in the dblist.conf file in the Preferences.old folder.

And if you had any other Resolve Preferences items modified from their default values, you'll need to modify those again as desired.
