I used almost exclusively Mac systems in post for almost 30 years.
Years ago, I was closely involved with Apple through the early development of NLE technology (Avid, Premiere, FCP, etc) and facilitated getting Macs into all the major studios and post houses.
Then in production and post I used only Macs for everything.
The trashcan Mac ended that. That fiasco was so bad for us not merely because of the machine itself, but because it exposed the lies about it that Apple had been propagating, and the flat reality that Apple had totally stopped caring for professional users. In my entire career, I never had a worse customer service experience.
We still use Macs for laptops, but not for anything job-critical. Their machines are simply no longer designed for it, and their support will not be there when you need them. We believe this is critical when evaluating performance. Specs are only part of the picture. Long term performance and reliable support are more important than raw speed.
We use Puget systems workstations, and whole-heartedly recommend them.
I am not a fan of Windows, but I am even less of a fan of Apple management.
Case in point: the new "revelations" that Apple is being deceptive by saying that you only need 8GB of RAM, because on Mac that is equivalent to 16GB of RAM on Windows. This is being widely debunked, and illustrates where there true concerns are.
